We are happy to announce that our new website is up and running and the online Gift Shoppe is open for business!
Click on any of the links at the top of the blog or on the photo above to get to our new site. There is a little something both old and new on the site. We have retained some of the texts from the old site but have expanded our "Life & Mission" page, added a photo gallery (which will be updated regularly) and expanded our "Vocations" page.
To thank you for your patience, all this week until Sunday, July 12th, any purchase you make through the online Gift Shoppe will receive a 10% discount.

I have just a few minutes before I leave for morning Mass at my parish. So I briefly explored your new website. It's fantastic, Sisters! I looked at the whole photo gallery. Wonderful! I'll be back and take a look at your store and find something to purchase. Who wouldn't want to support such a great gift to the Church? Have a good day, all!
the site looks beautiful sisters - can I ask - in your history page, some of the nuns wear black scapulars instead of white - can you tell why?
Pam, those are the lay-sistesr. Both lay sisters and lay brothers wore the black scapular until about the 30's. Lay sister category was abolished in 1967.
Lay sisters were usually uneducated women who did the manual labor in the monastery. In many ways they kept the monastery going! They had their own office: either the Little Office of Our Lady in their own language or a certain number of Our Father's and Hail Mary's.
Today there are "lay" brothers, known actually as cooperator brothers who are not ordained but have a ministry, field of education or even a trade but they are fully a part of the community and it's government and can be elected to certain offices, even prior.
That sale is until *July* 12th, I hope :) Will have a browse through the online store, discount or not!
Yikes! Thank you for Fr. Dismis, for noticing the mistake!
