You Won't Find This In the History Books!

24 November 2009

Yesterday was another historical day for "Rosary Shrine"! For the first time in our 90 year history we ran a dishwasher in our kitchen!!! Although renovations are still progressing.,(The painters are here this week and WATCH OUT!) some of the appliances are hooked up and so we decided that for Thanksgiving we would bring out our new dishware and use real dishes for Thanksgiving. For months we have been using paper plates and plastic ware.

Sister Photograher was on hand to catch the action (or lack thereof?) and tried to catch it on video without anyone noticing. She looked like the cat that swallowed the canary so everyone caught on rather quickly.

Below is a short clip. We hope it will give you a chuckle. You can't make this stuff up!

As we celebrate our Nation's holiday we especially lift each one of you in prayer in gratitude to God for your goodness in making this project possible. We can't wait to show you more!

Sisters,

You are all so funny! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving -- and now you don't have to do all your dishes yourself; you can put some of them in the dishwasher! You will be among those things for which I am very thankful this year.

Love in Christ,

Candice

You can tell Sr. Joseph Maria that when they imploded Market Square Arena in Indianapolis (where the Indiana Pacers played and Elvis gave his final concert), they sacrificed a video camera to put in there. So we got to see it all cave in. Have a great Thanksgiving!

So amusing, Sisters! And I'm happy to see all the modern conveniences you will get to use in your newly remodeled quarters. I also enjoyed hearing your East Coast accents.

Have a very happy Thanksgiving Day!

Dear Sisters,

I must be totally overly-emotional because of the holidays or something, but I cried! You all are hilarious. You deserve everything good that you have and more. Happy Thanksgiving!

How fun! Congratulations, sisters, on your new kitchen which seeems to be shaping up beautifully and really does look like it's SUCH an improvement over the old one. Do you have more room to navigate?

O/T Question, but I have heard this and wonder if it is true. Do you wear crucifixes under your scapulars, like Carmelites?

Ruth Ann, except for Sr. Diana Marie, non of the sisters on the video are from the East Coast! Sr. Carri is from Kansas, Sr. Joseph Maria is from Texas, Sr. Denise Marie is from Ohio, Sr. Mary Amata is from Michigan!

Patm,
actually, it's the other way around. The Carmelites wear their crucifix over their heart like the Dominicans! There is no uniform practice on this. It all depends on what monastery your monstery was originally from in France. Like the PCPA's some OP monasteries wear their crucifix on their belt.
We wear ours over our heart. In our monastery the crucifixes have relics including a relic of the True Cross and St. Dominic! :-)These were a gift from the Dominican Monastery of Monte Mario in Rome in the early days of our foundation.

LOL! That's hilarious!

Honestly, I have been trying to figure some things out about cloistered nuns and have blogged about it. A blogger friend said that yes, indeed, cloistered nuns do blog. But I had no idea you did online video as well!

Perhaps the idea of a "cloister" in the United States has changed since I learned about it as a child.

In any event, glad you are all so happy about your dishwasher (looks like a really nice one!), and thank you for letting people like me into your holy worlds for a little while. Your blog is interesting.

Merry Christmas!
