Independence Day--Part II
06 July 2010
With the power back on at 5:30 PM we were able to enjoy supper in the cool and comfortable community room. At recreation we sang Patriotic songs although Sr. Mary Cecilia kept asking us why we were playing "God Save the Queen!" Thereupon she and the other novices had a contest to see who could sing either God Save the Queen or My Country Tis of Thee the loudest. Happily, Sr. Mary Cecilia was drowned out!
After Compline the novitiate sisters once again climbed up to the upper roof to enjoy the firework displays. On Sunday night we counted 14 displays although we couldn't hear them! So, we welcomed all the bang! and boom! of Summit's fireworks which are getting harder to see because of the tall trees. Now, folks, if you would shoot them just a few feet to the left....
Climbing up the ladder to the upper roof to see the the firework displays all over the area.
Venus is high in the sky!
"WOW!" Sr. Joseph Maria enjoys the fireworks! We counted 14 displays!
Summit's Grand Finale. The noise makes all the difference!
The novitiate Sisters enjoy the fireworks from the roof. It was also cooler up there!

Thanks for posting Part II! Sounds like you had a very good Fourth of July! I find it interesting that it was "cooler" up on the roof. Maybe I should go up on the roof of my house tonight. God Bless you all, Sisters.
Love in Christ,
Candice
Tell Sr Mary Cecilia that Independence Day is Independence Day whatever . . . for the Ameericans, it's independence from King George; and for the British, it's independence from pernicious colonists . . . so you can sing your unuusal duet quite happily every year ! :o)
That said, I'm glad you all had a splendid Independence Day, and that my prayers for you were so amply answered.
